The hands that build a private tower
Poem

Will find it lonely at the peak,
For hollow is the earthly power
That turns a blind eye to the weak.
How easy is the narrow view
To guard the self, to hoard the light,
To measure what is "owed" to you,
And claim your comfort as your right.
But there’s a higher, nobler call,
A quiet road where grace begins:
To see the fracture in the wall,
To carry weights that are not yours.
To step aside and clear the way,
To hold the door, to share the bread,
To silence what the ego says,
And lift another’s heavy head.
For love is not a selfish gain,
It multiplies by giving room;
It shares the shadow of the pain,
So someone else's hope can bloom.
So let the bitter seeking cease,
Unclench the fist, unbind the soul.
In seeking for another's peace,
We find the thing that makes us whole.
