The Anchor and the Light By: Jim Gandolf

The Anchor and the Light

The world could shift beneath my feet,
The sky turn grey and cold,
But in the crowd, a steady heart—
A story yet untold.

You never asked for reasons why,
Or where the road might bend;
You simply stood within the storm,
The definition of a friend.

When shadows grew and whispers rose,
And others turned away,
You were the quiet, constant force
That promised you would stay.

No matter what the season brought,
The triumphs or the fears,
Your loyalty was written in
The laughter and the tears.

It’s heavy now, this silence left,
A weight within my chest,
To see the one who stood so tall
Finally laid to rest.

But even though the trail has ended,
And we must walk apart,
The gold of your devotion remains
Anointed on my heart.

So rest now, in the quiet light,
Your faithful work is done;
You were the shadow in my heat,
And in my cold, the sun.

Jim Gandolf

I lost a friend in the last few weeks.
This hurt my heart, strongly.
He will be missed by myself and his friends.
