I got the news that someone in the family was shot and killed today in Marion, Indiana? I considered Derrek family. It’s my best friend‘s nephew I have met him a few times and he was always a good spirit and he was funny to talk to but today Derrek was having a problem. We don’t know if Life just got him down or what the situation was but it was type of snapped situation merely that situation to where he was on his way to take his mother to a drugstore in Marion Indiana
I’m strong believer in police departments and sheriffs department but this was a tragic situation. Had, Derrick did not want to go on any further. He grabbed a knife out of his mother‘s kitchen and decided to start stabbing himself. His mother and his wife called 911 the Marion Police Department showed up. The MPO (Marion Police officer) was very active and calming Derrek down. They actually were in process of convincing him to stop harming himself, the Police Officer, had Derrick on his knees on the ground with his hands up. The knife was on the pavement of the road, and the harm steadily started to de-escalate.
Grant County deputy sheriff shows up on the scene and without warning to anyone not even the police officer that was on the scene according to witnesses started shooting Derrek while Derrek’s hands were in the air and it seemed to be calming down. The deputy sheriff without warning according to witnesses and Derrek’s life. I will not give out the name of the deputy sheriff that would be through further investigation. I have keard now that the state police Of Indiana is investigating this situation. I hope they talked the same witnesses that I did. I pray this gets resolved and a safe manner.
I am proud of the Marion police department for calming the situation down and trying to get help for Derrek because he clearly was at the lowest part of his life and his emotions were on empty. I don’t know who trained this Grant county deputy sheriff, but I think he needed to know the situation, of what was going on before he started shooting his shotgun and knocking out windows of cars and killing an individual that was clearly looking for help. I talked to several witnesses and at this point, I believe the Grant county sheriffs department needs a conversation with the deputy to clearly find out if the deputy wants to actually be in the business of protecting at citizens of the city of Marion, Indiana.
I have grown fond of the city of Marion, Indiana, and I do believe that the police department of Marion Indiana was on the verge of handling the situation. It was in control. According to witnesses. My heart and thoughts go out to the Derrek P Morgan, family and friends. A good man a good father had a mental breakdown yesterday and it cost him his life.
This is a situation to where Derrek P Morgan did have his hands up the knife that he was hurting himself was on the pavement, the ground and somehow still ended up situation and the city police actually did a good job. I don’t know what was going on and the deputy sheriff’s mind. I will be looking at the police rreport and I will be getting involved with trying to get the body cam released to the public
State of Indiana Police will be leading the investigation on this matter.
A mental health issue or breakdown should not involve getting shot and a loss of life by deputy sheriff officer of Grant County Indiana when the threat had de-escalate, and the knife was on the concrete away from any harm the police officer removed it with his foot. I have sworn an oath to my tribe and the world martial authority. And assured and bonded, what I say is about integrity and true to the witnesses that I spoke to nothing with sugarcoated. I have left a message with the Marion city police office department to the non-emergency phone number. I expect to hear from the police department soon.
Someone reported a false statement to the news departments throughout the state of Indiana. This is a problem and it needs to be justified to who made those reports. I will keep this fare and balanced.
Integrity is the key.
This was a tragic event that a black person was killed by a white deputy sheriff without any explanation of the actions of the deputy sheriff of Grant County Indiana. The City of Marion Indiana police department had the scene under control, according to witnesses on the scene. The situation is this the deputy sheriff of Grant County Indiana should’ve used a taser. If felt threatened not a gun or a rifle. Integrity is the key and an indigenous person, and family has to plan a funeral.
